This is Jet, the newest member of my household. Jet is some kind of Lab mix, is 6 months old, and was adopted from the Lawrence Humane Society. Look at that face! |

Jet came from a household in DeSoto, KS. I imagine she came from a litter where the owner had trouble giving the puppies away. At the Humane Society she was rooming with one of her litter-mates. |

When I first visited the Humane Society, I walked through the dog area looking at all the dogs in their kennels. There were a large number of Lab mixes available. At the time I passed her cage another dog was walking through the area and all the dogs were barking but she wasn't, she was sitting calmly in her cage looking at me. |

The camera made her eyes look green. Look at that face! |

Jet is a pretty big dog already. She is 1 inch shorter than Max, my old dog. She is expected to grow a couple more inches in height and reach around 60 lbs. Jet is mostly quiet. Inside she has barked only a few times and all of those times were at the cats. Outside she will bark at passing people and animals. She has a very robust deep bark. |

We went to the vet's on Tuesday, May 24. She was very intimidated by the whole experience. We will be making daily visits to the vet's office to get a cookie. My hope is that she will learn the vet's office is a good place to go. |
So far she has managed to drag out every forgotten cat toy in the house. |
She's chased the cats a few times. I gather from her behavior that she has never been around cats. She is learning that cats are ok to live with. |
Most of the time she has what I would interpret as a smile on her face. She seems very happy here. |

What a good looking dog! |
