2008 RACE INFORMATION
Race Highlights
- USATF certified courses
- The ½ Marathon showcases numerous Lawrence
landmarks, including Haskell Indian Nations University (HINU), Downtown
Lawrence and Kansas University.
- The ½ Marathon is an official event of the
MARA Grand Prix.
- Medals to all ½ Marathon finishers
- The 5K and ½ Marathon will have an Olympic
marathon-style finish on the track at Haskell Stadium.
- One Mile Fun Run course running though Haskell's
central campus
- Post-race food-fest provided by Chris Cakes, Great
Harvest Bread Co., A & E Dairy, and The Merc
- Visit
the pre-race expo featuring our major sponsors during the Saturday
registration at Coffin Sports Complex.
- Music
on the course by Americana Music Academy
- Bus transportation to HINU from Stoll Park Shopping
Center, 119th St. & Quivira in Overland Park
- Free shuttles to and from the KU Park and Ride Lot at
Clinton Parkway & Crestline and HINU
Important
Information
- Course control and aid stations will close on the 5K
and ½ Marathon courses at a 15-minute per mile pace,
equivalent to a finishing time of over 3 hours for the ½
Marathon and 45 minutes for the 5K. Runners who do not maintain this
pace may continue, but should be aware that there may be no water
stations, course volunteers, or traffic control. The finish line will
remain open until 11:45 a.m.
- Late registered runners are not guaranteed to receive
a t-shirt.
- Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
- NO
PETS will be allowed on the course or HINU’s campus. Roller
blades, skateboards, bicycles, and non-registered runners will not be
allowed on the course. Baby strollers and wagons will be allowed in the
Fun Run only. USATF regulations prohibit the use of audio
devices/headphones in road races.
- Winners
of age groups (generally five-year increments) will receive awards in
both the ½ Marathon and 5K. The number of awards in each
division will
be determined by the number of early-registered runners.
- All finishers in the Fun Run, ages 12 and under, will
receive a ribbon.
- Action Sports Images will be taking photographs.
These will be available for purchase after the race at actionsportsimages.com
- Race
organizers reserve the right to postpone or cancel
the
event if hazardous conditions exist, or in the event of unforeseen
circumstances.
- K.S.H.S.A.A. rules prohibit Kansas junior high and
high school track athletes from participating in road races during
track season.

12 & Under / Fun Run
All 12 & under finishers in all races will receive ribbons. The
Fun Run is encouraged for all families and appropriate for all age
groups. All preregistered runners in the Fun Run will receive a race
t-shirt.

Transportation to and
from Haskell (HINU)
To
help alleviate traffic congestion, and to benefit the environment, a
shuttle bus will run from the Stoll
Park Shopping
Center
at 119th St.
& Quivira in Overland Park to Haskell. Busses will
leave at
6:15 a.m. An early bus will return to Overland Park at 11:30
a.m.
A late bus will take runners to Downtown Lawrence at 11:30
a.m.
and
leave for Overland Park at 4:00 p.m. The cost is $2.50 each
way,
with no refunds or transfers.
Free shuttles will be provided from the KU Park and Ride Lot at Clinton
Parkway & Crestline to HINU every 30 minutes, beginning at 6:15
a.m., and ending at 7:15 a.m. These
shuttles will return to the Park
& Ride Lot, leaving HINU every 30 minutes, beginning
at 9:00 a.m.,
and ending at 11:30 a.m.

Ave. Lawrence, KS
Haskell Stadium is located on the south side
of 23rd Street (Highway K-10) at Learnard Avenue. From the east on
Highway K-10, go approximately 1 mile west of the first traffic light
to Learnard. Haskell Stadium is on the left. From the Kansas Turnpike
(I-70), take the East Lawrence exit and go south, past downtown
Lawrence, to 23rd St. Go east approximately 1/4 mile to Learnard and
turn right.
Parking will be in the lot north of Haskell Stadium, and
other designated
parking areas.
All races will start on time. Please allow plenty of time to get to the
start.
Volunteers
The Lawrence
Half Marathon & 5K requires a large number of
volunteers. This year the volunteers will be
provided by
the various beneficiaries of the event. For a listing of
