During the 1940's, Kenneth Doncourt was a very popular and well-known Hollywood comedian, working under the stage name Ken Murray. He headed a variety show named Blackouts, and in 1947 won a special Oscar for his film "Bill and Coo," which featured an all-bird cast. His autobiography, Life on a Pogo Stick (Holt Rinehart, 1960) briefly mentions the Kinnersley family. He was born at 312 E 55th Street in New York City, and was raised not knowing his mother, believing that Joseph Doncourt Sr and Mary were his parents and that JHD Jr was his brother! It was not until the 1930's that he was reunited with his real mother.
