The KCA received a total of 12 bids for the various events which were reviewed by the rider Championship Selection Committee made up of the KCA Board of Directors and a 3 riders. The KCA would like to thank Sherri Hahn, Amy Fear-Bishop, and Shadd Smith for their time and valuable input during the selection process.

According to KCA president Curt Shelman, “This was the best group of bids we have ever seen for the state championship events. The bid process is working as we expected, maybe better”.

The separation of the Category and Age Group (Masters/Juniors) championships has several advantages.

  • Safety at the road race. This schedule will allow the promoter to have less groups on the road at a given time. This will reduce the chances that groups will overtake each other. See USCF rule 3A2.
  • Ability of masters eligible riders to compete for state championships in their category and in their age group. See USCF rules 6F2 and 6G2.
  • Less pressure on the race schedule at the Criterium. Distance requirements for the Criterium Championship will be easier to meet since less Category/Class combinations will race at an event.

More information on the events will be available on the KCA website as it becomes available.

All the Kansas State Championship events will be sanctioned by and conducted under the rules and regulations of the Unites States Cycling Federation (USCF)
