A Lot of Work Ahead (circa Winter '89 - Spring 90)

Well, it gets kind of cold in the winter with no door panels. (remember this car was daily transportation *while* it was being restored)  A good piece of masonite served as a temporary panel, and a base to build the future vinyl finished panels.

Sometimes there is even too much rust for bondo to fill...enter the metal patch from a donor 4-door Chevelle.  Actually, the old 4-door donated quite a bit including the whole front clip, rear quarter patch panels, trunk lid, some interior dash trim.  Other parts...door handles, windshield, engine, trim pieces were sold to re-coop the cost of the car.  The best kind of donor vehicle...free!

Hey, that's where that old carpet went!

You know, I really should replace that plastic fuel filter before.....what the hell just went "Woooff!"?!?!  Well...one cold morning, I suppose it had to happen, the plastic fuel filter cracked open and the headers lit off the fuel.  Actually, most of what you see is cosmetic.  I replaced the plug wires, fan belts and air filter, took her to the car wash and re-polished the chrome.  Oh, and of course a new *metal* fuel filter.  Luckily, the week before, I had gone through it and removed all the dead and loose electrical wires and ran all new plastic shielding over them.  All my hard work had melted away, but not one wire was burned.

A short pause for Senior Pictures...Go Class of '90!!

Sorry I don't have a lot more photos to fill in the gaps.  This is nearly a year later, but the car is fully primered and the Bondo company is noticing a marked decrease in sales!
