Setup
Instructions:
Bring food about 10-15 minutes prior to the beginning of services, which start at 7:45pm. The sponsor should provide a loaf of challah for the oneg. Challah is available for purchase on Fridays at Wheatfields Bakery, the Merc, and Great Harvest Bread Company. The building will usually be open by this time. If you'd like to get into the building earlier, please arrange to get a spare key from the office. You may also bring food any time after 7:45 after services have begun.
You should prepare for about 20-30 people on a regular Shabbat. If it's a night Shiray Shabbat is leading services there will probably be closer to 35-40 people.
Services will end at approximately 8:45pm. Set up the two glass coffee makers to make 10 cups each of decaf coffee on a busy night, or one coffee maker with 10 cups and the other with 5 cups. We simply don't drink enough regular coffee in the evenings to make it worth the trouble. Guidelines, if you need them, are to use about 1/2-cup grounds to ten cups of water as marked on the carafe for a medium strength brew. Filters are in the far-left cabinet as you look out the service window. The coffee is in the small freezer. Condiments are in the marked cabinet. The coffee will take about 20 minutes to brew so come down sometime toward the end of services to start it. The Kiddush is a good cue.
Clean up Instructions:
A Board member will be responsible for checking the building for lights and thermostat and locking the west and north doors when they leave. All you will need to do is close the door behind you and check it when you leave. The north door will lock automatically. Be careful not to lock yourself out if you have gone outside and are not done in the building. The North handicapped door closes very hard so be sure to slam it.
Wash, dry and put away all utensils and dishes used so the dish drainer is empty when you leave. If you arranged for a key from the office, please leave it in the box outside of the upstairs office door before leaving the building. Please take out the garbage.
