Episode Two of a Pictorial Trip to D.C. and Virginia

After we left Howard's we started on our trek to Virginia.  We drove that night from 10:30 until, at least 2 or 3 am the next morning.  Around that time we stopped to sleep in our rented car, in the gas stations parking lot.  Which was across the street from a field of maze, and next to a small cemetary.  It was kind of creepy, but... still neat.  From the parking lot it took us 30 to 40 minutes to get to Chincoteague Island.

Map

Once we got to Chincoteague we went to Don's Seafood for breakfeast.  There is a map of the island availible there, with of course, a little arrow pointing to Don's Seafood, like the map above, (which I got off of Don's Website).

After breakfeast we drove around the island a bit, finding a street with the same name as the one we live on here at home, and then after not finding the town to have the much, opped to go to the beach.  We got to the beach around 10.  I tried to nap but the surf was calling me.  It did not call mom, on the other hand, who slept like a baby becaue of the relaxing sounds of the ocean.  I ended up swimming for almost 3 hours straight.  It has something to do with the ocean view from Kansas.  If you try to catch a glimse of it, you tend to strain your eyes.

We left from the ocean around noon, when everyone was just showing up, and we got out of dealing with traffic.  As we went down the road we found the Oyster & Maritme Museum which was down the road.  We actually went there just to use the rest room, but we ended up buying t-shirts!

FUN!!

After the museum we went back to town.  In town I went to lunch at Mr. Whippy, a local ice cream place.  I had Ice Cream for lunch, it was very good.  The image below, is actually, LESS then what I had, which was 5 scoops of ice cream, 4 toppings, (if you include the whip cream) and no, I wasn't able to finish it.

The hotel, we almost stayed at.

Mom ended up canceling our stay at the hotel.  She did this because, well, we didn't really want do do anything other then jump in the ocean and see a bit of the town, and we did that, so, we decided to hit the road again.
