Wilson Lake is located ten miles north of I-70 between Salina and Russell (map). It was formed by damming the Saline river, and is a very clean body of water. The topography of the area is rolling hills with limestone and sandstone outcrops, in the heart of stone post country. It is often windy, and is a wonderful sailing lake. If you visit Wilson Lake, be sure to make the short trip to Lucas and the Garden of Eden, a Kansas treasure. The Corps of Engineers manages the lake, their excellent site is here.
