Attention Parents of 2012 BLHS Seniors!
Project
Grad NEEDS YOU! We NEED volunteers to
help with ALL show activities - CLICK
HERE to send us an email
and sign up to help!!! What
is Project Grad? Project Grad is a
yearlong fundraising event for the purpose of raising
money to allow seniors the opportunity to safely
celebrate the completion of their high school career.
Project Grad also covers all of the extra graduation
activities, like the senior breakfast, baccalaureate, as
well as transportation to and from the post-graduation
party - an alcohol and drug-free party
exclusively for graduating seniors. The event will be
held on Graduation Night (May 17, 2011) from 10PM to 2AM.
Graduates will spend a fun night together on the final
evening of their high school careers under the safe
supervision of parent chaperones. This is
always a huge success, with over 90% of the senior class
attending. When
do we start? Class of 2012 senior
parents have already been meeting to plan Project
Graduation for several months. We still need
many more volunteers! The event requires
significant planning and fundraising, which is done at
events throughout the year. Some of you have already
helped with our fireworks stand fundraiser. In addition,
we have our annual car show on October 1, 2011. The car
show requires a major planning, fundraising, and
volunteer effort, and can end up funding much of the
annual cost of Project Grad. We also serve lunch at the
annual Basehor Craft Show as a fundraiser. Where
does the money come from? Project Graduation is an
independent, non-profit organization. We do not receive
any funding from the school budget. Project Grad is held
each year thanks to the generosity of parents,
businesses, local community, and the Car Show community. If
you have previously supported us with donations (food,
prizes, props, etc.) we thank you very much. If you would
prefer to support the event with a financial donation,
please send your check to Project Grad 2012, PO Box 408,
Basehor, KS 66007. How
can I help?
There is
truly a way for anyone who wants to see this happen to
help make it happen. Thank
you in advance for your continued help and support of
this celebration event! For many years, parent volunteers
and community members have produced Project Grad. We are
grateful that the Basehor & Linwood communities have
traditionally endorsed our efforts to provide a safe and
fun-filled environment where our seniors can celebrate
their graduation. The graduation party is a gift to our
seniors from YOU, their parents! It will take everyone's participation and ideas to make Project Grad 2012 a success.
