"JESSI'S JUBILEE CAKES"

Daughter of ShyAnne...Page updated July, 2011

In Fall of 2010, I decided to try the art of cake decorating.
My grandparents were celebrating their
50th Wedding Anniversary and they asked me to decorate their cake.
It was fun and I made two cake toppers also.
One topper was for my grandmother's brother and wife who also celebrate
the wedding date of September 11th.

I believe that I would enjoy this being my employment one day.
This idea led me to start taking classes.
Here are some of my designs...AND my 1st Cake Basics class final project.
Please enjoy!
PS: I might add that they taste delicious!

My grandmother, got me my first apron and customized it
for my me...even have a pocket for my MP3...smiles

50TH Wedding Anniversary
for my
Mailen Grandparents
I did everything except the
gumpaste sunflowers
My 1st cake decorating project!

Poppa and Nana loved to dance and went to all of the Friday night "Teen Town" dances in High School. They had taken dance lessons (including Rock and Roll) in Junior High.

Later, they did Square Dancing and Ballroom Dancing for ten years when my mother was in High School. She, Troy, and Todd all went along ... a family project. Nana made lots of square dance outfits!

This explains the picture (above) which I drew for their 50th Anniversary celebration.

Poppa and Nana's song was
"Dream, Dream, Dream"
sang by the Everly Brothers

I did the 12th Anniversary Cake for Vonda's Brother, Richard and his wife Earlene, who share the same wedding date of September 11th...

In November 2010, I completed my 1st Class in Basic Cake Decorating. I mixed my own colors to get the special lavender, gray, and teal -
ALL done with a buttercream icing.

The cake pictured was my design for the "final." I really like designing and decorating cakes.

I drew (in icing) my Uncle Troy's badge for his birthday party which the family held on Thanksgiving Day (November 25th, 2010.

We are so proud of his service to our community.

Love you and Happy Birthday.

Allyssa made the cake and helped mix the icing...Nana did the side decoration...thanks to my staff of "Cakes I Make", we are ready for the big day.

Jessi's 15TH birthday rolled around in December of 2010 - along with Allyssa and Caleb's birthdays
.
So, she sketched and painted a picture of family and friends at her birthday party. HyVee bakery then turned her picture into an icing overlay.

Jessi did the blue decorations and what a party it was!!!
Maybe one day we will see her sketches on many other cakes.

This one was AWESOME!!!

Todd and Denise Mailen's Wedding cake and topper. I passed my Wilton Basic cake decorating and had 1 class in Fondant when I designed my uncle and aunt's wedding cake for March 12, 2011.

I had fun, challenge, and looking forward to my tier cake class...

My brother, Rick, turned 21 on March 27, 2011.

He made the mistake of asking me to bake him a cake and gave me a cake mix.

I just had to come up with something that represented my brother...think he was surprised.

Of course, his comment was "but all I asked for was a marble cake."

BROTHERS......

Happy Birthday to my mom, ShyAnne, and my Poppa Jim in April 2011.

Yes, they play Farmville on Facebook...so what else could I design for them.

Love, Jessi

I made a V-guitar & Metronome birthday cake for my Cousin Sarah.

Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Icing and Fondant Decorations...Pretty tasty

Think I surprised her!

The V-guitar was her Dad's idea
Think he likes to challenge me

With all the cake decorating, we almost forgot to do my 8th Grade Graduation cake. I designed it to be my final grade in Wilton Flowers & Cake Design course, my 3rd course.

The cake was iced in a white basket weave. The black asters were gum paste and I used a fondant press to label the cake. The entire cake was sprinkled in edible gold dots.

This is a "sugar layer" that HyVee Bakery produced from my sketch of Uncle Todd and his 3 kids plus the cousins. We love to "hang out" together.

You know who you are in the picture...LOL

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
