Cool Links. This page will be periodically updated as I discover more places.

People constantly marvel, dumfound, surprise and entertain me. That's what I love about being a college professor and social scientist. I get to spend my life observing people in all their magnificence, thinking about how people in organizations act and teaching incredibly bright students. Most web sites I like to visit are concerned with people and the interesting things they do. Click on the bold link to go to the site.

Information (and Humor) Sites

Snopes.com

Snopes is a web site run by users dedicated to investigating urban legends, e-mail spoofs and other human stories that are told mainly now over e-mail. It's always fun to check with Snopes next time you get an e-mail asking you to forward it to as many people as possible because you could win a trip to Disney (hoax) or telling you that if somebody types your telephone number into Google's search engine that they can find your address (true).

Internet Hockey Database

As one of the few die-hard hockey fans in Kansas, this site is a resource for looking up anything about hockey. It's freakin' sweet!

Pure Humor Sites

The Onion

If the Onion isn't your main source of news about the world, it should be!

Random Fact Generator for Chuck Norris, Mr. T & Vin Diesel

A very interesting example of the internet's power and silliness. See facts posted, vote on them and even post your own facts for others to vote on. Some facts are extremely witty. Most are quite stupid. The top 100 lists usually have the best facts. This site used to be better. There are now a number of knock-offs and the site administrators do not put your submitted facts up for voting very frequently.

McSweeney's

McSweeney's is rather high-brow comedy written by, I guess, unemployed writers for the New Yorker. However, I have found some very funny pieces on it.

Off the Mark

Off the Mark is by far the best cartoon that is nationally syndicated. You can find their archive at this site.
