Shifter |
|
As you can see in the picture above, the stick shifter hole has to be trimmed just slightly. This will vary from car-to-car depending on what parts you use, as well as which shifter you choose. The shift boot we used is a custom black leather piece with a white "cobra" snake stitched into it that was purchased on Ebay. A vintage-style white Hurst cue-ball shift knob with the 5-speed pattern was added also. VERY minor clearancing of the stock shifter hole was required - There's a picture below that shows it. The T-5 shifter has two threaded holes to mount almost any kind of shift lever desired. We you can use either a stock like appearance shift lever or any of several stick from Hurst. Hurst also offers five speed pattern shift balls in white and black or T-handles found in 69-73 Mustangs. Most people find that the stock-style late-model shifter sticks are too much
of a "reach" when a T5 is swapped into an early model car. I did a
little research a while back and found several alternatives
from Hurst.
These looked like the best fits. I think most people will want 8" -
10" in height, and 3" - 7" of curve back. |
